Caring for your jewellery

Natural gemstones and pearls are treasures of the earth and sea — a little care keeps them luminous for generations.

Everyday

• Put jewellery on last — after fragrance, lotion and hairspray.
• Remove it before swimming, bathing, sport and sleep.
• Store pieces separately in a soft pouch so they don't scratch one another.

Coloured gemstones

Clean gently with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft brush; pat dry. Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and harsh chemicals, especially with emeralds, which are often oiled.

Pearls

Pearls are delicate and porous. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth after wear, never soak them, and keep them away from acids and alcohol. Worn often, they stay lustrous.
